Design engineer (m/f/d) – Printing units & special machinery

When printing equipment runs reliably, produces efficiently, and meets the highest quality standards, one thing is decisive: well-engineered design.

As a design engineer at AkeBoose, you develop technical solutions that stand up to daily production demands. You take concepts to completion, turn ideas into series-ready designs, and play a key role in transforming requirements into robust, economical, and safe equipment and machinery.

You will not work in isolation, but directly at our production site in Celle, collaborating closely with manufacturing, purchasing, project management, and customers — all with one clear goal: creating engineering solutions that convince.

Your responsibilities

We are looking for someone with a mechanical engineering background, solid CAD skills, relevant experience in design, strong technical understanding, and a structured, solution-focused work style.

Design and development of printing machine components (e.g. ink supply and chamber systems), complete printing units, and special-purpose machines — from concept to series production
Technical support of development projects and close coordination with manufacturing, purchasing, sales, project management, customers, and external partners
Creation, maintenance, and management of technical drawings, bills of materials, and documentation in compliance with applicable standards
Ensuring quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in design solutions
Continuous improvement and cost optimization of existing products with regard to performance, efficiency, and usability
Occasional travel (max. 10%) for project-related on-site customer meetings

What you bring

We are looking for someone with solid technical expertise, proven project management experience in mechanical engineering and strong communication skills

Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on design engineering or a comparable qualification
or certification as a Mechanical Engineering Technician
Several years of relevant professional experience in mechanical design, ideally in machinery or special-purpose machine construction
Strong understanding of complex technical systems
Solid knowledge of CAD software (Autodesk Inventor)
Good German language skills, spoken and written
Conversational English skills are an advantage
Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style
High level of quality awareness and personal responsibility for your designs
